The life of this specimen was developed more than 100 million years ago, its official name is Ultrasaurus, and this means in our language ultra lizard, that is, lizard of truly gigantic dimensions.
During the Cretaceous period, it developed its existence precisely on a piece of land that today belongs to the Asian continent. Furthermore, it was questioned whether it should be called Ultrasaurus, since this name had already been used for another specimen that developed its life during the Jurassic period.
However, the publication in which that name was used was of an unofficial nature, so that the name was totally available for scientific use, and it was in this way that it came to be called Ultrasaurus.

Characteristics of Ultrasaurus
The length of this considerable animal was about 30 meters, while its weight could reach 50 tons, it moved along with other animals of its family, in order to avoid having to face alone the problems that entailed traveling large extensions of territory.
This great journey of territory was made with only one objective, that of continuing to look for sources of food that would allow them to survive in order to reproduce successfully, and surely these creatures would soon have learned that the food did not last for long due to the large quantities that they could consume, because of the great energy that they spent to keep such a gigantic machine alive.
This gigantic sauropod was an animal that laid numerous eggs in a linear area of the terrain, that is, it did not lay its eggs within an ordinary nest, but it laid a sort of trail on which it could lay such reproductive elements.
It is for this great reason that it has been presumed that this animal released such eggs while making the large runs and did not take care of them, they were abandoned and with much luck some of them turned out to be successful enough to have an independent life after hatching.
The neck area of this creature was of considerable length, with the tail of this specimen going through the same, and the extremities also enjoyed elongated dimensions. In summary, almost all the areas of the structure of this specimen were of a superlative size, which is why it bears that name.
It is for this reason that it is presumed that the heart must have been a very powerful and resistant organ to carry out this function, since the size of this specimen was majestic and this heart would probably have been powerful enough to be able to carry out its function without any kind of complication at any time in its life.
In addition to this we know that due also to its size, the way the animal moved was very slow, and this was mainly because this individual needed to save a lot of energy, since any movement due to the size of its body cost it a great number of calories that later had to be replaced by food, and if food was scarce, it was not a good idea for this animal to make too many movements and even less to make them with much speed.
Discovery of Ultrasaurus
It was on the Asian continent that this specimen was found, in Kyosang Pukdo, South Korea, in the Dogyedong formation.
The scientist behind this important discovery was Kim Hang-Mook, who in 1983 undertook numerous efforts to track down the remains of the Dogyedong.
On that occasion, a bone element was found, which was probably a humerus and other remains in a rather poor state of preservation. This researcher was the one who was in charge of officially naming the Ultrasaurus, he was the one who made the scientific publications officially.
At first, this scientist even claimed that this was the largest dinosaur discovery in history; however, he then corrected his mistake and finally claimed that this was one of the largest animals, but it was not exactly the largest one.
Some experts say that due to the location of the remains of this animal is that there is still not much known about this specimen, it is assumed that there are few scientists in charge of such remains and that their efforts are actually less.
Because of this, the progress in the knowledge of the specimen is really slow, however, that is only a guess, because there are also few traces of the creature in possession, so there are many factors that really prevent this dinosaur from being known in its entirety and in much greater detail.
This specimen based its diet on the consumption of vegetables, it was a creature of herbivorous character, among the vegetables that it could find we cannot mention others different from those that extended during the time and in the land in which this animal developed its existence, such as conifers and ferns (angiosperms, that is, plants that developed fleshy fruits, did not appear yet).
It can be deduced very simply that this animal needed to ingest large amounts of food throughout the day, so that it could have the energy and resources necessary for its huge body to function properly, were in fact many tons of weight that had to be fed.
However, that same ability to eat and the same size they possessed sometimes proved to be a problem for the herd in which they were growing up, because there were times when the food was not enough for everyone and many of them died or became ill because of it.
The solution that these animals came to have was to have to go somewhere else and even to separate themselves from the great herd in which they had always been or belonged, because the herd was already made up of too many large members that required too much food in comparison with the food that was available in that territory in which they settled.
For that reason they sought out new vegetable-rich territories and formed their own groups, and so they spent their whole lives, a whole forest was not sufficient food for these enormous groups of gigantic animals.
Another aspect of the diet and behavior of this gigantic specimen is that its digestive system was probably one of the most useful and resistant of all the other specimens of its time, because at certain times of the year it was necessary for the animal to spend time without eating anything at all, so the stomach was responsible for taking out every last vitamin from the food ingested.
So everything was used by the body of the animal, both to have energy and to migrate and to use that energy to escape from ferocious predators.
Similarly it is known that that digestive organ had the capacity to keep the food for a long time, so that when the animal stopped feeding the stomach continued to work the reserves that were in that bag, all of them are useful characteristics that made this dinosaur so successful, a mystery that for a long time was unknown, remember that something similar happens in almost all the specimens known as sauropods.
Other details about the Ultrasaurus
A whole series of stories were woven about the discovery of this animal, a whole series of myths that managed to confuse the general public, first it was pointed out that a scientist known as Jim Jensen believed quite strongly that he had made the greatest discovery in history, the member of Bringham Young University mentioned that the largest animal of all had been found and for such detail it was named as we now know it.
Then it was mentioned that it was actually found by Hang-Mook in 1983, after the studies of these two scientists many people have been realizing the amount of mistakes that have been made about the classification of this dinosaur and the reviews that were made of the animal.
That has been one of the main reasons why we still cannot get to know more information about this specimen, a series of controversies that have been slowing down the research and has given rise to more spectacle than scientific argument.
At present, this animal is represented in several video games and many toys have been made taking into account its name and characteristics, but specifically no references to this animal have been found.
